The President Muhammadu Buhari had a taste of the peoples’ feelings/anger towards him in Benue State yesterday when he was bluntly told that the people of the state were not happy with him.
The Former governor of the state, who is now a senator, George Akume conveyed his people’s bitterness against the president at a town hall meeting the president had with the communities.
Recall that we reported how the president was welcomed by an enormous silence yesterday during his visit at Benue state unlike in the other states where a cheering crowd was always at hand to welcome him.
Akume said the Benue people populated mostly by Tivs are angry with the president over the way and manner he handled herdsmen killings in the state hence the cold welcome he received from the people.
Akume said: “Your Excellency, you could recall that Senator David Mark was Senate President while Suswam was the Chief Security of the State, yet the Tiv people voted for you in 2015.
“We have no federal project in Benue State, Ortom does not make law, Benue People made the law, JS Tarka fought for the unity of our country Nigeria, Mr. President the Tiv people are not happy about your reaction towards the killing of Tiv farmers by Fulani herdsmen.”
